Overview

This book won the Children's Book Council of Australia 2020 Award for New Illustrator. It is a very simple yet important story of the first lesson in Aboriginal law, a beginning. It is a story of how smoke is used to get rid of bad spirits and connect a child or Gurung to their Country. Activities for this book tie in the idea of each member of the community having a totem which in this case is the bee. There is a practice handwriting, maze, drawing and art and craft activity.
