Overview

This 2023 notable Eve Pownall Award book is a true story of wartime heroism off the coast of Broome in Western Australia. A beautifully illustrated story of the morning Japanese fighter pilots attacked 22 boats sitting in harbour and how Charlie D’Antoine rescued Dutch evacuees from the sea.

The activities are designed for students in stage 3 or 4 who are studying acts of bravery, First Nation’s heroes of the Second World War.
