Overview

This is a 2024 CBCA notable Picture Book of the Year. It is a version of the events which led to the Monday 20 February 1962 lighting up of Perth to acknowledge the special mission of American astronaut John Glenn—the first American to orbit the Earth. Glenn saw and acknowledged the lights as being clearly visible from space and Perth dubbed it ‘The City of Light’.
