Overview

This 2023 short listed early childhood book is a beautifully illustrated story follows a young girl as she wrestles with what she should spend her special coin on at the markets. She decides not to spend it on lollies or fruit but to give it to the young boy busking with his guitar. This charitable act teaches young children to think of others before themselves as we often have so much more than we need.

The activities for this book focus on counting coins like the one the young girl gave to the busker, finding some of the items her family purchased in a find-a-word, colouring items from the market their correct colour to practice fine motor skills and finding the odd one out from a simple set of 4 items.
