This CBCA 2023 shortlisted picture book of the year is designed for older students in Grades 5 and above. It explores the concept of parents giving of themselves for their children but takes this to a new literal level as the parents are reduced by centimetres at a time to allow their son to grow and develop.

The activities for this book are designed to capture the design elements of the book but in fact this book lends itself to a lot more discussion than actual written activity. Students could discuss what their parents have sacrificed for them, what their parents do to make them feel special and how they could show their gratitude for what their parents do for them.
