The Flying Angel Book Activities Games

Overview

This CBCA Notable Children's Picture Book for 2022 is inspired by the life of one remarkable nurse, Sister Marie Eileen Craig. Although she did not survive the war the story follows her early years in Sydney and her decision to become a nurse before fictionalising her war efforts and those of her fellow nurses in the frontline in Papua New Guinea as the Flying Angels.

The team at Learn From Play have created four activities to allow students from Grade 2 to engage with the books content more fully. These are a timeline of the book, how to press a rose, an activity to explore bravery and what it means and a drawing activity as this is a notable picture book.
