Overview

This CBCA 2022 Notable Picture Book of the Year is a beautiful Bangladeshi story of saris and the kathas or quilts that can be made out of them once they are no longer able to be worn as saris. Asiya explores her family heritage and the lives of her aunties that are tied up in the images, smells and feel of the kathas.


The team at Learn From Play have made 4 activities for you to complete to further enjoy this story. They are an activity using Bengali folk art called Parrachitra as are found in the front and back cover of the book, a quilting activity to make images that mean a lot to you, a find the image activity as each outline can be matched to an image and an activity to write about your family and what is important to you.
