Get Ready for 2025

As we wrap up 2024, I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your continued support and engagement with our resources at Learn From Play. This will be my last article for the year as I take a well-deserved break until school resumes in late January 2025.

I will send one more email message some time soon when I have the details to share with you Learn From Play’s double-page spread in the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA) 2025 journal! This special "Book An Adventure" themed activity will be available to downloaded for free with everything you need to create a working pocket compass. I will send the email as soon as the 2025 Journal is live on the CBCA site.

Looking Ahead to 2025

The coming year brings with it some exciting changes and updates:

  • Back In The Classroom / Library: I am thrilled to be returning to my full-time teacher librarian role from January 2025. I have enjoyed being part time this year but teaching is definitely my first love and I have missed being in my library every day and getting to interact with all of my students.

  • Article Schedule Update: To accommodate the increase in my teaching load I will reduce the frequency of my articles to once every fortnight. Rest assured that we will continue to release new book activity sets every week to keep young readers engaged and inspired and most of these will be tried and tested on my students to ensure their effectiveness and relevance.

  • Continued Coverage of CBCA Notable Books: We remain committed to covering the CBCA notable and shortlisted books, providing you with activity sets for their Early Childhood, Picture Book, Eve Pownall and New Illustrator books.

  • National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) Activities: We have already created almost 30 activities for the May 2025 NSS book "The Truck Cat" by Deborah Frenkel and Danny Snell but I will also be preparing a 5 week cat themed unit of work which I will share with you closer to the time.

  • CBCA Book Week Theme - Book An Adventure: Along with the CBCA journal activity coming soon we will have a range of activities aligned with the 2025 CBCA Book Week theme, "Book An Adventure," designed to spark student's curiosity and creativity and encourage adventurous reading.

  • Maths ‘N’ Movement Activities: If that is not enough I am working over the holidays to get our popular Maths ‘N’ Movement activities refreshed to ensure they continue to meet the evolving educational standards and learning needs of your students.

We Want to Hear From You!

Your feedback is invaluable to us. Please let us know if you have any book activity suggestions or topics you’d like us to cover. Our goal is to meet your needs and those of your students, and your input helps us do just that.

Closing Thoughts

As we pause our regular updates, I encourage you to explore our existing resources and continue to make learning fun, engaging, and adventurous for your students. Thank you once again for your wonderful support throughout the year. Enjoy your holiday season, and we look forward to reconnecting in 2025 with fresh ideas and activities.
